Website Project
This project was inspired by women who blog on networks like BlogHer—oftentimes, groups of women with common interest will form a single group blog to collaborate, share expertise, and grow their online reach, all while building friendships. In that spirit, Thé Au Lait avec Vélo is an imagined group blog for women who enjoy a good cup of tea and a good bike ride. The idea of combining tea and bikes came from a "Caffeine Cruise" that happens every Saturday in Austin: a group of cyclists, mostly women, get together and ride about 10 miles around the city, visiting a few coffee shops in town as they go.
Chief among the technical challenges for this project was making everything work! I had a hard time remembering that changing one thing affects all the other things. I also had a few broken links at first from typing in an address incorrectly and then copying & pasting the broken link all over the place. It was only on the final pass over the site that I finally managed to make the drop-down menus on the top of the page work the way I wanted. I would have preferred to put the drop-down bits in the sidebar, but couldn't make it work.
I'm feeling much more confident about using CSS, HTML, and JavaScript after completing this project.
